Piazza Napoleone

Piazza Napoleone is the central square in Lucca, named after Napoleon. In the period from 1805 to 1815, his sister Eliza ruled here. Many old buildings had to be demolished to create the square, but now it is one of the most popular places in the city. Sometimes international concerts take place here, and on normal days the square attracts both locals and tourists who come to enjoy the atmosphere and views.
